ALERT: If You See A Rubber Band On Your Front Door Call Police Immediately, Here’s What It Means

A woman from Texas posted about a disturbing incident that happened to her at her home back in the spring, and she wants as many people as possible to be warned. She is speaking out in the hope that she can help prevent anyone else from being victimized by this kind of crime. Criminals across the country have found a new way to basically ensure that they can succeed in their crimes against their intended victims, and this trend is terrifying and still ongoing.

In a Facebook post that has since gone viral, Kim Cernigliaro described her terrifying experience after an unknown person came to her front door and began violently pounding on it. What happened after left her petrified.

“Two weeks ago during the day, a hard knock was at my front door, not a regular knock but almost pounding … and I DO NOT answer the door when I am here by myself,” she wrote.
Thankfully, she followed her intuition at the time and refused to open the door. Instead she took a safer route and peered out of a  side window. The man standing there left her blood running cold.

“I glanced around and could see it was a man through the stained glass of my door,” she wrote.

She waited for about 30 minutes after the man left and when she was positive that he was gone, she opened her door expecting to see a brochure from a salesman or something similar. Instead she found a rubber band twisted around her door knob. Confused entirely and still shaken, Kim called the police to see if they had and info on anything like the rubber band thing happening before. It was the smartest thing she could have done because the following information probably saved her life.

“The sheriff came by yesterday and said this is happening all of a sudden, as soon as you unlatch the door, they do not wait for you to turn the knob, they can bust in on you.”

The police told Kim to let others know that if anyone sees a rubber band wrapped around their outside door knobs to immediately contact their local police. Essentially, the rubber band is used to prop the latch open, so as soon as you hear a knock and unlock the door it is stuck in an open position. The criminals then use their bodies to push through the door. This combined action affords them the ability to gain instant access into your home without you having the time to even peek to see who the person is.

Kim hopes that sharing her story will help to gain the attention of others and just maybe help to prevent anyone else from being victimized. If you hear someone knocking at your door and you’re not explicitly expecting anyone specifically, always be absolutely sure to have your firearm handy and accessible and never open the door without trying to see who it is first. Armed and prepared allows time for defense if things do go south. You should always be prepared and able to adequately defend yourself and your home.

The seeming innocent object being used as a trick to render homeowners helpless against an intrusion while at home is the scariest criminal trend to date due to the absolute knowledge that it is being done with the intention of invading the home while people are home. Simple robbers would have no need of that if all they were after was a couple of televisions and maybe some spare cash lying around. No, this has extremely deadly undertones that should have everyone being extremely cautious while home alone.

Please help us to get this info out to as many people as you possibly can in the hopes that we can prevent any loss of life due to a situation like this. Warn family and friends that an innocent object like a rubber band is nothing to ignore if wrapped around any of your door knobs, and please remember to never open your door without confirming who is on the other side of it first. It is possible that this warning could save someone’s life, and that life may be that of one of your very own family members. I would advise pinning a note by the door as well for any children that may be in the home to remind them to not open the door at all.
