It has been a tough few week for Democratic leaders. President Trump has made good on his promise to drain the swamp, and the results are very encouraging. Last week, the President released the highly controversial FISA memo that incriminated many high ranking government officials including former FBI Director James Comey all the way up to Barack Obama. At the same time, Trump has been setting his sights on those Democratic leaders who are refusing to get in line with his immigration policies.
Since Trump was elected, defiant liberal leaders in states like California have welcomed illegal immigrants with open arms. Even after many of these illegals were found to have violent criminal backgrounds, the Democrats continued to give them sanctuary defying federal law. Well, that is all about to change as it looks like the President is finally ready to strike and bring these lawbreaking political leaders to justice.
It is now only a matter of time until the DHS arrives with warrants for leaders of “sanctuary cities” who continue to encourage illegal immigrants to seek a haven within their city limits. This new information comes as bad news for mayors like Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, De Blasio of New York, and Jerry Brown the Governor of California.
According to The Washington Times:
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen confirmed Tuesday that her department has asked federal prosecutors to see if they can lodge criminal charges against sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with federal deportation efforts.
“The Department of Justice is reviewing what avenues may be available,” Ms. Nielsen told the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Her confirmation came after California’s new sanctuary law went into effect Jan. 1, severely restricting cooperation the state or any of its localities could offer.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan says those policies put his officers and local communities at more risk because they have to arrest illegal immigrants out in the community.
The country’s top immigration enforcement officer, Thomas Homan says he is looking into charging sanctuary city leaders with violating federal anti-smuggling laws because he is fed up with local officials putting their communities and his officers at risk by releasing illegal immigrants from jail.
Mr. Homan told The Washington Times last July that he wanted to see local officials charged as complicit in human smuggling if they shielded illegal immigrants through sanctuary policies.
Thomas Homan, the acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also told Americans to expect more worksite enforcement targeting unscrupulous employers and more 287(g) agreements with willing police and sheriff’s departments that want to help get illegal immigrants off their streets. Eventually, he said, ICE will break the deportation records of 409,849 migrants set in 2012 under President Obama.
“I think 409,000 is a stretch this year, but if [the Justice Department] keeps going in the direction they’re going in, if we continue to expand our operational footprint, I think we’re going to get there,” he told The Washington Times. “Our interior arrests will go up. They’re going to top last year’s for sure.”
Mr. Homan is the spear tip of President Trump’s effort to step up immigration enforcement — perhaps the largest swing in attitude for any agency in government from the last administration to the current one.
Agents and officers have been unshackled from the limits imposed by Mr. Obama, whose rules restricted arrests to less than 20 percent of the estimated illegal immigrant population.
Now, most illegal immigrants are eligible for deportation, though Mr. Homan said serious criminals, recent border
Mr. Homan repeated that demand in an interview with Fox News earlier this year, setting off a firestorm of criticism.
Democrats have been pressing their luck for the past year believing they could get away with their lawbreaking but the President was merely waiting for the right time to strike, and after the string of lousy luck democrats have been facing later, this will just be icing on the cake.
It is refreshing to have a President who cares about the American people and doesn’t have an ulterior motive. Donald Trump was elected because he promised to bring a change to our government and make it more transparent to the American people. For years we have allowed our political leaders to leave us vulnerable, but now that is all about to change and it is about damn time.
