World Health Organization Just Declared 1.2 BILLION People Have a Mental Disorder For 1 Ridiculous Reason

Liberals and Democrats alike like to tout that they are the side of tolerance, acceptance, and inclusion. However, this only applies if you are a liberal and agree with the lefts’ views of societal norms. Universities, professional organizations, and professional sports leagues have all fallen victim to the leftist agenda, and the World Heath Organization is no exception.

In a not so surprising move, the WHO has listed playing excessive video games as a mental disorder while still considering transgenderism not to be a mental disorder despite the American Psychiatric Association declaring that, “Gender dysphoria involves a conflict between a person’s physical or assigned gender and the gender with which he/she/they identify. People with gender dysphoria may be very uncomfortable with the gender they were assigned, sometimes described as being uncomfortable with their body (particularly developments during puberty) or being uncomfortable with the expected roles of their assigned gender.” Still the WHO chooses to ignore this classification which is a dangerous and obtuse position.

Rather, the WHO will list excessive video game use as a mental disorder claiming that “The behavior pattern is of sufficient severity to result in significant impairment in personal, family, social, educational, occupational, or other important areas of functioning. The gaming behavior and other features are normally evident over a period of at least 12 months in order for a diagnosis to be assigned, although the required duration may be shortened if all diagnostic requirements are met and symptoms are severe.” Rebuking this nonsensical determination, Ben Shapiro from The Daily Wire said, “Yes, you’re reading this correctly: gaming to the extent that you prioritize playing video games over “other life interests and daily activities” will be internationally recognized as a diagnosable mental illness, but believing that you are a member of the opposite sex isn’t a mental disorder at all — the only reason you’d be impaired by that condition is if society is mean to you, despite a lifetime suicide attempt rate of four in ten among transgender people.” While playing video games in excess in lieu of engaging in other normal activities is not the norm, it is far from a mental disorder.

At issue with the WHO’s assessment is that some people have little interests or hobbies other than video games after work, or other necessary life requirements, and video games is an outlet for releasing stress. Further, those who are handicapped and have limited forms of stimulation may use video games as therapeutic to exercise the brain.

The WHO was kind enough to stipulate that gaming is an issue when it causes “Impairment in personal, family, social, educational, occupational or other important areas of functioning.” Though neglecting family instead of engaging with family or other important educational functions is detrimental, the behavior still does not warrant the classification of a mental disorder. The WHO did not provide any research for their assessment and classification and did not indicate what time period for playing video games is considered excessive.

The American Psychiatric Association even has stated that whether or not to classify excessive video game use as a mental disorder requires additional research. “The fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) published in 2013 defined Internet gaming disorder as a “condition for further study.” This doesn’t classify it as an official disorder; rather one the American Psychiatric Association says requires additional research.”

The transgender community in America, which accounts for a very small percentage of the total population, seems content to force their self-perceived ideology on others, forcing people to use certain pronouns, under threat of a lawsuit. With the WHO organization refusing to classify what gender dysphoria really is, transgender people will be further enabled to continue their war against Christians and those who disagree with their lifestyle choices.

The WHO also left out the fact that some people who play video games excessively may have pre-existing mental health issues which would be the true cause of their obsessive behavior and not necessarily the video games alone. So long as the scientific community continues to be blinded by leftist ideology, everyday Americans simply won’t take them seriously.
